Relevance in Ministry

Just had a great conversation with a friend of mine very frustrated in ministry.  He has recently become the volunteer college pastor at a very traditional church in a college community.  He feels as though the church has started this ministry because they want younger people in the church but they are not willing to reach out to these students in a way that these young people can understand.

He has an opportunity to share his heart with the people of this congregation soon and is looking forward to an opportunity to share his heart on this matter.  As we spoke I was reminded of something... We don't get to pick our culture.  We are put in our culture and asked to share the message of Jesus with those around us.

To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings."  - 1 Corinthians 9:22-23
